Orkos and Lakkos Beach

ORKKOS Beach

Orkos beach is a ten to fifteen minute stroll from the apartments through a delightful wooded valley and Ian Bleasdale suggests in his guide book (http://www.iankbleasdale.co.uk) that the path from the road to the beach is one of the most delightful walks on the whole island.

Simply turn left out of the property, walk downhill and bare left towards Lakka where you will pick up signs to the beach. Don’t expect an English style road sign, look out for a plank or a piece of metal with the word Orkos and an arrow!

When you get to the secluded beach (these pictures of both beaches were taken in the middle of the high season in August) you will see a collection of huts that were once used by Italian football club Juventus for weekend retreats or pre-season training.

LAKKOS beach

The enchanting walk through the olive groves to Orkos and Lakkos beach from the studios of the same name is shown below the photographs of the beaches.

Lakkos beach is nearer to the apartments than Orkos and again a brief look at the Bleasdale map will get you there. Turn left out of the property and head downhill towards Lakke but after about thirty of forty metres take the road that heads off to your right. Walk past a property with a small tower feature and follow the road as it turns into a track that narrows to become a path as you meander down to the beach. It is steep in places, particularly as you get closer to the sea but it is nearer to the apartment than Orkos beach.

If you plan a visit to either of these wonderful beaches take all that you need including drinking water because there is nothing there other than the sea, the beach and some shade!

Other beaches in Paxos – nowhere in Paxos is more than one mile from the sea!

There are so many fantastic beaches on Paxos but one of our current favourites is Avlaki creek. Whilst at the other end of the island, it is still only around ten minutes by car and it is well worth the effort! Ideally, you combine a trip to this beach with a visit to Gaios. If you don’t have a hire car you can book a taxi to take you and pick you up.
