If I had to choose one word to describe Pisces, it would be…healer. After researching this sign, I’ve learned that one of the greatest features of Pisceans is their ability to heal others. So, if you’re expecting a little Pisces soon, or you already have one at home, you’ll always have an excellent supporter by your side. Or on your lap. Or clinging to your leg. Or knocking on the bathroom door while you’re just trying to do your thing in peace. Okay, that last part is true for ALL children – not just Pisces children. Here is how to raise a Pisces.

Whenever I’m researching zodiac signs, I always think of the people I know who fall under each sign so I can see if the stereotypes match up. For Pisces I noticed – I don’t know a lot of Pisces. I’m usually able to think of at least a handful of people, but for Pisces, I’ve got two.

What’s cool about these two people though? One is my sister-in-law, a married mother of three teenage boys, and the other is my 12-year-old son’s best friend. Complete opposites, right? So, if they have anything in common, it must be because of their zodiac sign! Well, it’s possible anyway.

If you’re currently raising a little Pisces, or you’re expecting one to arrive soon, let’s see what the experts have to say about what you can look forward to in the years ahead!

First, we’ll start with the basics of the Pisces sign.

  • Birthdate – February 19 – March 20
  • Element – Water Sign
  • Symbol – The Two Fish

When it comes to personality, it’s said that Pisces are greatly influenced by the previous sign, Aquarius. While Pisces have a wide range of qualities and characteristics from Aquarius, from what I’ve read, Pisces are MUCH more sensitive, emotional, and empathetic.

Below is a list of typical positive and negative traits of Pisces. Your little one probably doesn’t have ALL these traits, but they likely have some. (You can find the whole list here)

Positive Traits

Empathy – Remember what I said about Pisces being a healer? Well, empathy is one of their strongest traits. Other people’s emotions are often more important than their own, and they have a desire to support, help, and heal others in their time of need.

Generosity – The most selfless sign of the zodiac is Pisces. They’re so generous, they often put other people’s needs before their own. They always want to make people happy.

Sensitivity – When I think of Pisces, sensitivity always comes to mind. They feel things quite deeply and react to pretty much everything emotionally.

Forgiveness – Grudges? What grudges?! Pisceans never hold a grudge for a long time. They forgive easily.

Compassion – If you’re feeling sad or need to talk, find the nearest Pisces. They always demonstrate sympathy and concern towards others.

Negative Traits

Too Many Emotions – Can one really be TOO emotional? Apparently, yes. Pisceans are known for being overly emotional and are often not able to control their emotions.

Laziness – If you’re raising a Pisces, it’s very important to motivate them or they will quickly just lose the desire to do anything.

Moodiness – Since they’re too emotional, Pisceans are often in a bad mood and can have mood swings quite suddenly. Raising a Pisces will require a fair amount of patience and understanding.

Now that we know a little bit more about Pisces, let’s see what they stereotypically like and dislike. While researching this sign, I noticed there was a longer list of likes for Pisces than there were for other signs. So, I included an extra one! Obviously, not everyone born under this sign is the same, but this might give you a bit of insight.

Likes

Being Alone – While other signs enjoy being around people, Pisceans have no problem being alone. They like their own company.

Love – They like being in love and can often be described as hopeless romantics.

Swimming – It’s funny, the two Pisceans I know and mentioned earlier are both big fans of swimming.

Sleeping – This is a great one for those early years raising a Pisces. Fingers crossed they sleep through the night and happily embrace nap time. Is that being overly optimistic??

Dislikes

Know It All’s – I hear ya, Pisces. Nobody likes a know-it-all!

Being Criticized – Some signs can take criticism and just let it roll off their back. For Pisces, criticism will need to be worded a little more delicately.

So, in a nutshell, Pisceans should be your go-to sign if you’re in need of compassion or a listening ear. If you’re thinking these characteristics sound nothing like your little Pisces, they might be on the cusp of another zodiac sign and have more of those traits.

For instance, if their birthday is February 19th to 22nd, they may have more Aquarius traits. If their birthday is around March 18th to 20th, they may have more Aries traits. (We’ll learn more about those fiery rams next month!)

Energetic. Extroverted. Enthusiastic. If you have a bundle of energy running around your house, they might just be a little Sagittarius.

Now, full disclosure here, I am a Sagittarius. Growing up I always found astrology to be fun and interesting to read about, so I know a fair amount about this specific sign. Of course, I didn’t take it very seriously, but that being said… I’m pretty darn close to being your typical Sagittarius.

Sagittarians are known as the travelers of the zodiac, and I laughed a little bit when I read that because our family went on FOUR vacations this past year. We were making up for lost time due to the pandemic and don’t typically take that many vacations in a year but trust me – I’d LOVE to!

So, what else can you expect if you’re raising a little Archer or expecting one to arrive very soon? Well, let’s see what the experts have to say!

First, we’ll start with the basics of the Sagittarius sign.

Birthdate – November 22 – December 21

Element – Fire Sign

Symbol – The Archer

When it comes to personality, Sagittarians are full of fire! They don’t care what others think, they’re passionate, and they’ll always tell it like it is. Below is a list of typical positive and negative traits of Sagittarius. Your wee one probably doesn’t have ALL of these traits, but some might sound familiar. (You can find the whole list here)

Positive Traits

Sociable – Greeting everyone. Chatting loudly. Making a speech. Singing karaoke. That’s a Sagittarius in a social situation. They are very social beings, and you’ll usually leave a conversation with them feeling happy.

Friendly – Sagittarians are very friendly and love meeting new people. They love to talk, they’re full of charm, and they form new friendships quite easily.

Adventurous – As mentioned earlier, Sagittarians love to travel and they’re always looking for adventure in everyday life. Traveling and exploring makes them happy, so keep that in mind. Even day trips are enough to keep your little adventurer smiling.

Funny – Be prepared to laugh. A lot. Those born under this sign have a great sense of humour, they’re full of wit, and they’re usually a riot at social gatherings.

Optimistic – The glass is ALWAYS half-full. All the time. This one is especially true for me. I’m always looking at the bright side of every situation. My husband jokes all the time that I’m optimistic about literally everything. He’s not wrong.

Negative Traits

Blunt – Guilty. I mean, I’ll try to word it nicely of course, but if you ask, I’m going to tell you the truth whether it’s what you want to hear or not. So, you can expect some brutal honesty from your Sagittarius. Other fire signs Aries and Leo are also known for their bluntness.

Stubborn – Yep, this sign has a stubborn streak. It’s important to try and help them keep a level head so their stubborn side doesn’t end up sabotaging friendships and relationships.

Impatient – Your little Archer wants what they want, and they want it NOW! Patience is something Sagittarians don’t have a lot of, so you’ll need to use YOUR patience and teach them how to wait so their impatience doesn’t get in the way of things later in life.

Now that we know a little bit more about Sagittarians, let’s dive into their stereotypical likes and dislikes. Again, these may not all be true, but it can’t hurt to keep them in the back of your mind.

Likes

Travel – They want to see and experience all the things! So, let them explore! Take them to new places, ever if it’s just nearby! Plan little adventures!

Being Outdoors – This is a good thing! In a world full of technology, having a little one who loves being outdoors is quite literally a breath of fresh air. So, encourage outdoor play! Go for walks! Check out local parks!

Freedom – With that adventurous spirit we keep talking about, Sagittarians just want to live life to the fullest without anything holding them back. They become restless when they aren’t moving, so having freedom is very important to them.

Dislikes

Clingy People – If we’re being honest here, I don’t think anyone really likes a clingy person, do they? Maybe that’s just the Sagittarius in me talking…

Being Constrained – They don’t like being restricted. At all.

So, in a nutshell, Sagittarians are fun people to be around and they like their freedom. If you’re reading this thinking it doesn’t sound like your child at all, they might be on the cusp of another zodiac sign and have more of those traits.

For instance, if their birthday is November 22nd or 23rd, they may have more Scorpio traits. If their birthday is December 20th or 21st, they may have more Capricorn traits. (We’ll learn all about Capricorns next month!)

Courageous, but tender. Demanding, yet emotional. For those of you with a little Scorpio in your house…how are you? Are you doing alright?

I say this because Scorpios are not easy. All the parents of Scorpios are nodding their heads right now and saying things like “You got that right!” or “Don’t I know it!” or “Is that why my kid is so stubborn?!” Yes! It’s not genetics. I mean, it could be genetics, but you can totally blame it on their astrological sign. You have one passionate, determined, and independent child on your hands – and that’s not a bad thing! Just think of the things they’ll accomplish in life!

Scorpios have a combination of characteristics that are rarely seen in other signs. If you’re currently raising a Scorpio, or you’re expecting one soon, let see what the experts say!

First, we’ll start with the basics of the Scorpio sign.

  • Birthdate – October 23 – November 21
  • Element – Water Sign
  • Symbol – The Scorpion

When it comes to personality, Scorpios have traits that might seem impossible to combine in one person. Chances are, your child likely doesn’t have ALL of these personality traits, but let’s take a look at a few of the stereotypical positive and negative traits of Scorpio. (You can find the whole list here)

Positive Traits

Determination – Scorpios are focused on the things they want in life. If they want something bad enough, there isn’t an obstacle that will stop them.

Courage – You might think Leos would be the most courageous of the zodiac, but Scorpios are right up there with them. If there’s a dangerous situation ahead, you’ll want a Scorpio on your side – and they’ll be happy to join you!

Honesty – If you’re into full blown honestly, ask a Scorpio. They will tell you the absolute truth even if it’s not exactly what you want to hear. They also expect the same in return.

Independence – Scorpios don’t like needing or asking for help, so they will likely become more independent early in life. So, it’s likely you’ve noticed your little Scorpio wanting to do things by themselves without any assistance.

Curiosity – For Scorpios, you can never give them enough information. They’re naturally curious and always want all the details. They’re drawn to mysteries, puzzles, and secrets.

Negative Traits

Jealousy – Scorpios are intense. As children, if they don’t achieve something as quickly as their peers, they will become jealous and envious. This could carry into adulthood and cause them to treat many things in life as a competition – which isn’t always a good thing.

Control – It’s clear Scorpios don’t like to be controlled by others, but they have no problem being the one in control.

Stubbornness – While it’s great Scorpios stick to their own principles – they appear to have an inability to compromise and listen to advice. It’s also difficult for them to try new things or admit when someone else’s view is better than theirs.

Now that we know what a strong personality your Scorpio likely has, let’s look at their typical likes and dislikes. It might not be the same for all Scorpios, but it might sound familiar.

Likes

Facts – Like we mentioned earlier, Scorpios are all about honestly. So, they want the facts. Just the facts!

Being Right – I mean, I think we all enjoy being right, am I right? Well, Scorpios especially like being right. Keep this in mind when your little one crosses their arms and glares up at you when you tell them they’re wrong.

Teasing – Scorpios get a kick out of playfully teasing others.

Dislikes

Dishonesty – Not a big shocker here! The good news is, your Scorpio should never lie to you.

Small Talk – They don’t want to talk about the weather, they want to have meaningful conversations.

So, there you have it! A stereotypical Scorpio. Does it sound like yours? If not, keep it mind that if their birthday is close to either end of the Scorpio range, they may have more traits of the previous or next astrological sign.

For instance, if their birthday is October 23rd or 24th, they may be more Libra than Scorpio. If their birthday is November 20th or 21st, they may have more Sagittarius traits – which we’ll dive deep into next month!

If you’re currently raising a strong little Scorpio, let us know how you’re doing in the comments. Oh, and give some fellow parents some tips – they’ll need ‘em!

Peaceful. Fair. Social. Cooperative. Not a fan of being alone.

If this sounds like a little one living in your house, you’re most likely raising a Libra. Now, I don’t have any Libras in my house, but I know a few Libras and I was also raised by one. My Dad is a Libra and while reading up on all the stereotypical Libra traits, he seems to be pretty true to his sign.

Apparently, Libras are known as being very likeable people, and I think I would have to agree with this. In addition to my Dad, I also have a good friend and a sister-in-law who fall under this sign and they’re all very likeable. I mean, Libras are known for their irresistible charm after all. More on that soon!

If you’re currently raising a Libra, you’re probably wondering what might be in store for you in the years to come. So, let’s see what all the experts say! First, we’ll start with the basics of the Libra sign.

Birthdate – September 23 – October 22

Element – Air Sign

Symbol – The Scales

Now, it’s said that Libras have way more positive personality traits than negative personality traits. Maybe it’s because Libras have very easy-going personalities and are super easy to get along with? I did manage to find a few negative personality traits to go along with the positives. They’re listed below. (You can find the whole list here)

Positive Traits

Charm – Oh, the Libra charm. Libras are the most charming sign of the zodiac, and if you’re raising one, you probably already know that. They’re friendly and talkative so people are just naturally attracted to them.

Tact – Libra is a diplomatic sign. They always try to find the best words to express their opinions. They like to find common ground with people and avoid misunderstandings. They’re often called peacemakers.

Social – Libras are typically extroverts and enjoy spending time with other people. With that charming personality of theirs, they can often be found in the limelight.

Great Listener – If you have a Libra in your life, they’re likely great listeners. Libras are compared to a sponge because they have a habit of soaking up everything that is said by others. Careful though, Libras are sometimes known for being a little gossipy.

Imagination – It’s highly likely that your little Libra has a big imagination. It’s a good thing though! Their imagination will help them find creative ways out of difficult situations. They also might pursue artistic professions.

Negative Traits

Self-Pity – If a Libra is having a bad day, they might throw themselves a little pity-party. They find it difficult to survive tough situations and believe everyone is out to get them.

Unreliability – Libras are sometimes known for being a bit flighty. This might cause them to be late to important events and forget about important things. If it helps, I know one Libra this is 100% true for, and another that hasn’t shown up late for anything. Ever. Wait, maybe this doesn’t help…

Vanity – Libras pay a fair amount of attention to their appearance and might choose not to spend time with people they don’t find good-looking. They also like to take selfies no matter where they are. Sorry, but picturing my Dad taking a selfie is just hilarious!

Now that we know all about the personality of typical Libras, let’s move on to their likes and dislikes and you can see if any of them sound familiar for your Libra.

Likes

Harmony – Libras like to live in harmony with others. They don’t like conflict.

Sharing – A child who LIKES sharing?! Yes! Apparently, it’s true when it comes to Libras!

The Outdoors – Start planning all kinds of outdoor adventures! Your little Libra will love it!

Dislikes

Violence – Libras are not big fans of violence, so you might find your little one getting upset if they see anything violent on TV or if another child is physical towards them.

Loudmouths – Since Libras are known as peacemakers and always try to word things nicely, it should be no surprise that they aren’t fan of loudmouths. This is absolutely true when it comes to my Dad!

So, what do you think? Does this sound like the Libras in your life? If so, let us know in the comments below. Oh, and good luck resisting that famous Libra charm!

As someone who has been raising a Virgo for almost 14 years, you might think I have all the answers. Spoiler alert: I don’t. I have some insight and some experience for sure, but I wouldn’t say I have all the answers. In my experience, raising a Virgo has been quite pleasant overall. As a baby, he was always very happy and relaxed. As a toddler, he was super helpful with his younger brother. In school, he’s always done very well and not just because it comes easy to him, but because he WANTS to do well in school. He’s always had a very calm and patient personality too. Now, that’s not to say he doesn’t lose his temper and get angry. He does. But that might be more of a redhead thing than a Virgo thing…

While diving deeper into all the typical Virgo traits, I nodded along with a lot of them. If you’re currently raising a Virgo, you might find yourself doing the same while you’re reading this. So, what can you expect in the years to come? Let’s see what all the experts say! First, we’ll start with the basics of the Virgo sign.

Birthdate – August 23 – September 22

Element – Earth Sign

Symbol – The Virgin or Maiden

Now, I don’t want to give you the impression that raising a Virgo is a walk in the park. We have had our battles over the years. In comparison to his brother though, his personality is just so much more laid back. The personality traits traditionally associated with Virgos are spot-on with him. Below are just a few of those positive and negative personality traits.  (You can find the whole list here)

Positive Traits

Kindness – Although they aren’t known for expressing very much emotion to people, Virgos are very humble and kind to everyone they meet without exception.

Reliability – If you need someone you can always count on, find a Virgo. They are known for always keeping their word and they will never leave someone in a difficult situation.

Helpfulness – Virgos love to feel needed, and they love receiving gratitude from others. They love to assist people in any way they can, and they are very willing to be volunteers.

Excellent Memory – I can 100% verify that Virgos, at least the Virgo in my house, have incredible memories. My oldest remembers EVERYTHING. Whenever we can’t remember something, we ask him, and he always has an answer. The ability to remember events, names, etc. comes easily to Virgos and it helps them grow professionally quite rapidly.

Intelligence – Virgos are also known for being very intelligent. Their excellent memory and responsibility contribute to their intellectual growth, so they’re always learning.

Negative Traits

People Pleaser – Virgos naturally wants to make everyone happy. If you have a little Virgo in your house, you may have noticed this. As they get older, make sure they understand that they can’t make everyone happy all the time and their own happiness is important too.

Perfectionism – They want everything to be just right, which often makes them hard on themselves. They are the most careful sign of the zodiac, so their methodical approach to pretty much everything ensures that they don’t leave anything to chance.

Judgmental – Virgos are known for being judgmental of others. They often compare people and will never miss an opportunity to judge others on their point of view – which may cause conflict.

Now that we know all about the personality of typical Virgos, let’s move on to their likes and dislikes. Now, these might not be true for all Virgos, but it gives you an idea of the types of things your child might be interested in and naturally drawn to.

Likes

Animals – When I read that animals were #1 on the list of likes for Virgos, I just smiled. Our Virgo has been drawn to animals since he was very small. He loves all kinds of animals and he’s even leaning towards becoming a veterinarian. You’ll likely notice your little Virgo is drawn to animals too.

Books – If you have a Virgo in your house, be sure to have some books laying around for them to explore. They love to read, so you’ll likely find them with their nose in a book quite often!

Cleanliness – If you look in the bedrooms of our two boys, you will know right away which room our Virgo lives in. Even as a baby, he didn’t like getting dirty and he was always hesitant before diving into a meal that looked a little messy. You can look forward to a neat and tidy room in those teenage years! (Fingers crossed, right?)

Dislikes

Rudeness – I mean, I don’t think anyone is a big fan of people being rude, but Virgos REALLY don’t like it.

Asking for Help – It’s true. They refuse to ask anyone for help. I’ve always told our oldest that he’s allowed to ask for help, and his response is usually shrugging his shoulders.

Raising kids is never easy, regardless of their astrological sign. Raising a Virgo though, might just be a bit more relaxed than you originally thought. Not a bad thing, right? If you’re like me and have a Virgo at home, tell us all about it in the comments below!
